Traffic restrictions during the G7 Hiroshima Summit
The leaders of the G7 member states and the European Union (EU) will gather in Hiroshima for the G7 Hiroshima Summit, and between May 18 and May 22, 2023, there will be traffic restrictions on public roads in the central area of the city and expressways in Hiroshima Prefecture. As a result, heavy traffic congestion may occur in the city. In order to ease this congestion, we ask for your cooperation in the following matters.
Refrain from driving
Please refrain from driving during the Summit in order to ensure that emergency services, such as police and ambulances, are not caught in traffic, as well as to ensure that regular citizens are not sitting in traffic for prolonged periods.
During the Summit, public transportation services will operate on a different schedule and some services may be suspended. Please check the public transportation schedules during the Summit on each services’ respective websites.
Hiroshima Airport shuttle buses and express bus services that depart from and arrive in Hiroshima during the Summit may also have their services cancelled from May 18 to May 22, 2023, so please be sure to check the schedules in advance.
Stronger measures for unattended bicycles
During the Summit, stronger measures will be taken for unattended bicycles, so make sure to park your bicycle in designated parking spaces or your bicycle may be impounded.

Garbage collection
Garbage collection services will be available as usual during the Summit. However, depending on the traffic conditions, collection times may differ from the usual schedule. Even still, we ask that you put your garbage out by the usual 8:30 am.
