Information Regarding COVID-19 Booster Shots (3rd shot)
(1) Who is eligible to receive the shot?
Individuals, aged 18 years old or older, who have a registered address within Hiroshima city, and have already completed both rounds of the primary vaccine. As a general rule, vaccinations are carried out in the city where your address is registered. However, individuals who have a registered address within Hiroshima Prefecture may be able to receive shots in other areas within Hiroshima Prefecture if they meet certain requirements.
a) For individuals who are registered to Hiroshima city but want to receive their booster shot in a different city or town within Hiroshima Prefecture, they will first need to wait until 6 months or more have passed since their 2nd shot and become eligible for the shot at the city or town where you wish to receive it. Information on how to do this varies from city to city, so please be sure to check out the Prefecture’s homepage for more details.
b) For individuals who are registered outside of Hiroshima city, but wish to receive their booster within the city, they will be able to do so if they meet ALL of the below requirements. A list of available clinics is listed on the city’s website. There are also special pop-up group vaccination areas, however times listed are not fixed times.
Conditions:
・ Individual(s) must have a registered address in Hiroshima Prefecture.
・ It has been 6 months or more since their 2nd COVID-19 shot.
・ Individual(s) who are already eligible for the shot in the city or town in where they are registered.
・ Selected clinics in Hiroshima city have already begun taking appointments for booster shots.
(2) Types of Vaccines Used
Both Pfizer and Moderna vaccines are being administered for booster (3rd time) shots. It is possible for individuals to receive a different brand of vaccine for their 3rd shot compared to their 1st and 2nd.
(3) Information regarding the mailing of vaccine coupons
a) For individuals receiving their primary vaccinations (1st & 2nd shots)
The target vaccination group consists of people aged 12 years or older. For those who have not yet turned 12, coupons will be sent out the month after they turn 12.
b) For individuals receiving the booster, coupons will be sent out the month after the 6 month wait period has been reached.

a) Screening questionnaires and other forms
Screening questionnaires and other forms sent to homes are available in the following languages: English, Chinese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, Thai, and Vietnamese.
These forms include the following information:
• How to make reservations for vaccines (the call center’s number and website)
• The link for the website regarding screening questionnaires available in multiple languages
• The Hiroshima City & Aki County International Resident Consultation Service’s contact information
b) Reservations
Individuals who use the below number can make reservations in the following languages: English, Chinese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, Thai, and Vietnamese.

c) Group vaccination sites
An English-speaking staff member and a translation device (Pocket Talk) will be available at group vaccination sites. For other languages, multi-language forms for screening questionnaires are available at check-in.
Child Vaccines (ages 5 – 11)
(1) Who is eligible to receive the shot?
Children aged 5-11 years old, and are registered as living in Hiroshima City
(2) What type of vaccine is used?
The Pfizer vaccine developed for children (5-11 years old)
(3) Coupon mailing schedule
Coupons will be mailed out according to the child`s birthdate.
