For Single Parent Households: Child Rearing and Livelihood Special Benefits to Families with Children (Kosodate-setai Seikatsu Shien Tokubetsu Kyūfukin)

For households with children under the age of 18 (or 19 for those with disabilities), who have taken on sole responsibility due to divorce, or the passing of one’s spouse, are eligible to receive up to 50,000 yen per child. Applications must be submitted to city hall in order to receive benefits.

👉 Those whose income is above a certain level or those who have a family member with income above a certain level are not eligible to receive this benefit.

👉 Receiving repeated payments is not possible. Those who will or have received the special benefit for families with children other than single-parent families, which is payable to those who are raising children under 18 years old (19 years old if disabled), are not eligible to receive this benefit.

Allowance amount

50,000yen/child


Eligibility

Said benefit qualifies individuals’ spouses who have since been subject to divorce, are currently undergoing divorce, or are now living separately from their partner. They should also meet one of the following conditions.

① Individuals who received the child rearing allowance (Jidō fuyō teate) for April 2022

② Individuals who did not receive the child rearing allowance (Jidō fuyō teate) for April 2022, and are receiving   one of the following:

 Basic Pension for the Bereaved (Izoku Nenkin), which is payable to families of the deceased who were enrolled in a national basic pension and/or employees’ pension insurance,

Basic Pension for the Disabled (Shogai Nenkin), which is payable to those who have a certain level of physical or other disability,

 Basic Pension for the Elderly (Rōrei Nenkin), which is payable to those who are aged 65 and over,

Or

 Worker’s Compensation for Injury and Disease (Rōsai Nenkin), which is payable to those who get injured or become ill due to work-related causes.

 

③ Individual who did not receive the child rearing allowance (Jidō fuyō teate) for April 2022, and whose income dropped due to COVID-19.


📌 Child Rearing Allowance (Jidō fuyō teate),

which is payable to those who are raising children under 18 years old (19 years for those with disabilities) on their own due to divorce or the death of a spouse.

📝 Where to get the application form

You can receive an application form at the Welfare Division (福祉課 Fukushi Ka) of your local ward office. The application form can also be downloaded on the City’s official website.

 

📝 Where to submit the application

Applications can be submitted either by mail or in person.

Application Deadline    By February 28th, 2023

You need to apply for the benefit by February 28th, 2023 (Tuesday).


👉If you send it by mail, it needs to be postmarked by the above date.

👉 If The City of Hiroshima cannot confirm your application by this date, such as if you do not submit some required documents, you will not be eligible to receive the benefit.
